Building on Birmingham’s strong track record in experimental medicine, the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Birmingham Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) launched in 2017 as the first BRC in our region.
Our latest 5-year NIHR award of over £30.7 million will fund our work until 2027. This has enabled us to grow into a larger regional BRC, with an expanded research programme and a wider partnership network – so we can continue delivering cutting-edge research to benefit patients in our city, region and across the globe.
